First Impressions | Neutrogena Hydro Boost Foundation, Stila Magnificent Metals Shadows & Bare Minerals Butter Gloss

Hey y'all!
So I picked up some new goodies at Ulta the other day.
I tried out a few of them today and wanted to do a little first impressions post. 😊
*I wore these products for roughly 7 hours to get a good feel for them & an idea of how they wear.

1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost (Nude 40):
So I'm pretty impressed by this stuff!  I applied it with a beauty blender.  It applied smoothly, didn't crease, settle, or look cakey.  There's really nothing out there that I've tried that I love as much as the Garnier BB Cream for combo to oily skin but this 1 is a contender.  It's super comparable; however, it's consistency is thicker and it has more claims that would ultimately be better for your skin.
I have also heard it's a near exact dupe for the $110 La Mer foundation.
(Compliments of ShadesofKassie on YouTube.)
I don't really know if it would necessarily work as well for me in Summer months because I'm more oily and I started to get shiny near the end of the day but it's definitely a winner!

2. Stila Magnificent Metals (Rose Gold Retro):
1 word. Obsessed!  Living, Dying, Resuscitating for these!!
These shadows are so gorgeous I really just have no words.  My only negative is that it has a bit of fall out that got in my lashes and was slightly blinding. Next time I'm definitely going to try it with a primer, but even if it doesn't help they're totally worth being temporarily blind for!
As far as a similar comp, I think they are in a league of their own, BUT the Maybelline Tattoo Chrome shadows are somewhat similar for a fraction of the price.  The Tattoo shadows have more of a gritty glitter texture and are harder to remove hence the name "tattoo", the Stila shadows have a bit of fall out but are far more intense in my opinion.
Swatches comparing the 2 shades I have are below.

TOP: Maybelline "beige luster"
BOTTOM: Stila "rose gold retro"

 Natural Sunlight VS iPhone Flash

3. Bare Minerals Gen Nude Butter Gloss (Groovy):
This is such a pretty color, I hyperventilated!  The perfect soft nude/ pale pink shade.  As far as price point, I can't help but feel there's better/ similar products at the same price or even cheaper but overall I liked it. It's super pigmented and long lasting to be a gloss.  I'd compare it to Buxom "White Russian" as far as consistency and staying power.  I wore it with a nude liner and it looked really nice.  I think it would be a great lipstick topper too.  Definitely worth checking out!!

Here's some additional photos wearing these products....

Overall, these gave me the feels you guys, and I'm impressed.
I definitely want to grab 1 or 2 more shades of the Stila shadows!
There's so many new makeup products coming out this Spring & Summer, I can't wait!
I hope you guys enjoyed this post.
Stay tuned for more first impressions posts!

Til next time..

Trying New Products: Hits + Misses

Hey Y'all!!
So I've been trying out some new products lately and wanted to share my thoughts on them! :-)
This is going to be a mix between skin care, hair care, styling, and makeup.
A little variety is always good, right?
Some of these are new to the market and some are just new to me.
There will be notations next to each product to let you know where I found them. ;-)

1. Bigelow "Mentha" Body Lotion (Bath & Body Works OR Nordstrom)
I really like this lotion.  It makes you feel like you're butt naked in the arctic circle, you've been warned.  I've found it really helps with headaches and my trash sinuses.

2. Vaseline Cocoa Radiant Intensive Care 10x Healing Lotion (Target)
This stuff!  It's a miracle in a bottle.  I've been using the Vaseline Cocoa Radiant line for a while, but this version is new.  The struggle with severe dry skin is real during the winter and this has been a life saver!

3. Aveeno Naturals "Oatmeal & Seaweed" Body Wash (Target)
The smell of this is what attracted me.  It smells SO fresh and delic.  I wouldn't say it's extremely hydrating but overall I like it.

4. Herbal Essences Naked Volume White Grapefruit & Mosa Mint- Shampoo & Conditioner (Target)
I just bought this not too long ago and O M G!  The smell is AHHHmazing.  The mint gives your scalp a slight cooling sensation, but nothing crazy.  As far as  the "volume" aspect, I can see some extrabody at my roots and throughout after washing and not adding any addition products.  I love that it has 0% paraben, colorants, gluten, and silicone because it's great for your hair especially if you get buildup from using a lot of products.  It also has antioxidants, aloe, and sea kelp.  The smell though you guys, incredible!

5. Soap & Glory "The Breakfast Scrub" (Target OR Ulta)
Okay so maybe I am a sucker for smells..  This stuff smells crazy good in a very unique way.  It's an oatmeal/ maple scent.  It's a bit different than a typical body scrub like those from Tree Hut for example, but I like it.  It has this sort of thick, paste-like texture.  Cookie dough is what comes to mind.  Lol  Definitely different than my other scrubs.

6. Garnier Fructis Volume Hairspray (Target OR Ulta)
My go-to hairspray is the Garnier "Full Control", but I picked this up because my usual one was sold out.  I like this.  It definitely makes your hair appear & feel thicker and more volumized without making it look/feel stiff or gross.

7. Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Bronzer in "Bronze 04" (Sephora)
I grabbed this amazing baby a couple months back and MAN!  How did I live without it?
It's such a beautiful & natural all over bronze.  It isn't glittery, but it has this gorgeous sheen to it.  It's pretty light despite the way it looks in the pan and can be built up for the ideal bronze on your skin tone.  Definitely a must in my opinion!

8. Chapstick Total Hydration Lip Scrub (Target)
So my lips are chapped pretty much all day every day during the winter.  Not sure why, it's just a part of my journey.  This stuff..  I'm not crazy about, I'm not even sure I'm a fan at all to be honest.  For me, it isn't abrasive enough and it has this thick Vaseline like feel to it that lasts on your lips after wiping it away and God forbid you wipe when removing it then it's all over your face.
For me, I prefer just scrubbing my lips with a clean damp tooth brush.  Works like a charm.

9. L'Oreal Infallible Paints Eyeliner in "White Party" (Target)
This stuff...  It nearly blinded me you guys.
First of all, hardly any color comes off.
Second of all, I know it's called "paints" but man it smells like actual household paint!
Super chemically and it actually made my eyes water.
I tried this on my lower lash line and it was just a total flop!

10. NYX Total Control Drop Foundation (Target OR Ulta)
This foundation seemed so ideal in theory, but after playing with it in store I couldn't even commit to buying it because my inner psychic just knew it was going to be a nightmare.
It's super liquidy, didn't really blend into my skin it more so sat on top of it, and even after being on for a while it didn't really seem to set and would just move around with the slightest touch.  It also clung to small blonde peach fuzz that is usually undetectable.
I'm just not a fan.

That's all I've got for this post. :-)
I hope y'all enjoyed!
Let me know in the comments what products you're loving & hating and what I should try next!!
And please feel free to send me suggestions for future posts you guys would like to see.
:-)
